About BodyTalk:


BodyTalk is a community-based organization created by adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in December 2017 which uses peer advocacy to educate AGYW on Body Image, Self-esteem and Health.
Started as a social media campaign, it leverages modern communication tools for peer advocacy through shared knowledge and personal experience. It uses social channels like chat groups and blogs as the main communication media. In addition, we mobilize for community events, outreaches, school talks and workshops. With a network of 245 members, BodyTalk has reached over 2300 AGYW since December 2017.


Project Goal:


Equip adolescent girls and young women in Cameroon with the necessary skills for advocacy to Engage and influence key decision making spaces within global fund processes for HIV.


Objectives:

  • Capacitate 20 AGYW aged 15 to 29 in 3 Health Districts in the South West region of Cameroon (Limbe, Tiko and Buea) with tools of communication for advocacy by October 29th 2021.
  • Initiate a consultative forum between AGYW representatives aged 15 to 29 and 3 Local Decision-making structures in the SW Region by December 2021.
  • Assimilate 10 AGYW representatives ages 15 to 29 within decision making spaces in 3Districts of SW Region (Limbe, Tiko and Buea) by Feb 2021.
  • Assess the HIV strategic and implementation plan for the Regional Technical workinggroup to ensure it correctly captures the needs of AGYW aged 15 to 29 in Limbe, Tiko and Buea by December 31st 2021.
